Best Uses of AI
As a service to others and to myself, I frequently update this list of ways that I have personally used AI chatbots - what actually works and what doesn't - so you don't have to start at 0.
Daily Life

-
-
Ask it how to use ______'s website to manage your ______.
-
Most of these are not easy enough to use and we shouldn't have to spend time learning to use your poorly designed website just so I can update my subscription.
-
-
What it why you need that one tax form again.
-
Who can remember all of these?
-
Business Technology Work
-

-
-
Vibe code an App
-
Services like Lovable.dev and Claude Code will help you feel like you're a real developer and give you insights into how software is developed (based on the questions you must answer) but it can also give you another way to show your developers what you are asking them to build.
-
-
Ask it to search an unnecessarily long document.
-
This can be a huge cognitive load and AI can usually help you find what you're trying to find way more quickly. Think of it as a search tool instead of expecting it to tell you everything.
-
Creative Production
-
Generate Audio, Visual, and Video assets.
-
You are not replacing the artist - you are doing a better job of explaining what you want.
-
Services like Midjourney.com are getting better and better all the time and just playing with them is the best way to learn more about AI-generated images and video.
-
Principles and Good Ideas
-
Things that don't need to be 100% accurate or things you can verify quickly.
-
Use it when you're not sure how to word your question.
